About Me
I’m Jo an experienced surface pattern, print and textile designer with a whole lot of product development thrown in for good measure! I freelance from my 1930's home in sunny Bedfordshire and have a passion for creativity and an obsession for trend and design with a particular love of the Mid Century style.
A foundation course from my roots in Hertfordshire led me on to study 'Printed Textiles and Decoration’ at Middlesex University and the bright lights of London, which reinforced my love for print and pattern ( and London! )
Since then I have gained a wealth of industry experience from designing men’s woven ties in Suffolk, to fashion prints in Islington, kids prints in Shoreditch, umbrellas and accessories in Canary Wharf and finally pretty much all categories of hard and soft homeware in Milton Keynes.
In 2018 I decided to take all the skills, knowledge and experience I had gained to set up my own freelance design studio joburfootdesign. I successfully design for many well known retailers, studios, suppliers and brands across the UK, Europe, Australia and China and have been lucky enough to travel to several of these for inspiration and development trips,
I love what I do and the variety of designs I produce from hand painted watercolour florals to detailed geometrics in CAD. I can also offer the full design process from initial research to trend / colour, design and final product.
